John Milligan

BA (Hons) BArch, ADPPA, RIBA, RIAI, MRIAI, AKBW

John Milligan studied architecture at the University of Liverpool (England), after which he worked for Wilford Schupp Architekten in Stuttgart (Germany) and Allies and Morrison Architects, London (England). In 2015 he co-founded Milligan Knight Architects before independently establishing Milligan Architects in 2021.

John Milligan was introduced to building and construction at a very young age. As the son of a Carpenter, growing-up, he spent a lot of time on building sites assisting his father in his work. This apprenticeship, combined with his University education, and his experiences designing for some of the best architecture practices in the world, has shaped his approach to design and construction of buildings. It is his belief that architecture should be functional, beautiful and sustainable. To achieve this requires, thought, knowledge, skill, craft, dedication, collaboration, passion, and time.

John Milligan is a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (UK), the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (Ireland) and the Architektenkammer Baden-Württemberg (Germany).

In addition to architectural practice, John Milligan has previously taught and lectured on architecture and technical design at Hertfordshire University and was previously a guest critic at the University of Liverpool.
